Deep Tissue / Clinical Massage

Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage is a modality derived from Swedish massage, but it focuses on working the deep muscles, tendons, and ligaments (to a lesser extent). The pressure will be more intense and perhaps longer to break down adhesions between the muscles and release lactic acid and waste chemicals trapped between the muscle fibers. These are some of the causes of trigger point development. It is also a more individualized type of massage, as the therapist will work specifically on chronic areas of tension, muscle tightness, and contractures. Deep tissue massage increases muscle stretch capacity and joint mobility. It is a technique that reduces muscle tension. The deep layers of tissue are worked on, as well as the causes of muscle conditions related to tension and overuse, such as chronic pain in the neck, head, shoulders, and problems with the middle and lower back. The pace of work is slower and more meticulous.
